About the campground

The pond Křišťanovický rybník situated in a picturesque valley near village Křišťanovice (815 meters above the sea level) was built by people around year 1950. The bottom of the pond is created by the layer of peat and the water comes from the nearby peat-bogs. That's why the water is gold-brown and it is also believed that the water has healing effects for rheumatic diseases and skin. The pond's surface area is 36,32 acres and the dam is situated 785 meters above the sea level and is the highest situated pond in the Czech Republic. Owner of the pond is village Záblatí. The whole area is situated in territory of protected landscape area Šumava in Šumava Foothills.

 

The history of the camping in this area started in 70's - 80's of the last century when a group of enthusiasts - protectors of nature - built and started to provide camping for a purpose to get money to the return of Lynx lynx to Šumava. Tělovýchovná jednota Slávia Prachatice, z.s. has been running the camp since the year 1977.

 

Our campground is visited by people who enjoy quiet vacation without the necessity of using modern times technologies, who like nature, tranquility, sitting by a camp fire, swimming in a warm and clean water with the possibility of trips to nearby touristic interesting places of Šumava and its foothills. Our camp is the ideal place for the body and mind regeneration. The camp administrator is here for you for 24 hours a day.
